Council resolved at its Ordinary Meeting held on 7 December 2011 to undertake public notification of the draft structure plan for the Eli Waters/Dundowran area.

Humphreys Reynolds Perkins (HRP) Consultants prepared the Draft Eli Waters/Dundowran Structure Plan Area Report which was informed by hydraulic and hydrology consulting engineers EngenY, and consulting traffic engineers Engineers Plus Pty Ltd. 

The draft structure plan seeks to provide an integrated land use and infrastructure strategy to guide the future development of this area and will assist Council in the assessment of current and future development proposals.

The draft structure plan identifies the preferred layout of future residential, tourism and commercial development as well as the location of major roads, open space and infrastructure that is supported by an overall vision and a series of strategies to help give effect to and implement the structure plan.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION
An Information Session on the draft structure plan is to be held on Wednesday 14 December 2011, from 6.00pm to 7.30pm at the Urangan Community Centre located within the Botanic Gardens – Elizabeth Street, Hervey Bay.  If you wish to attend the information session please RSVP to Council's Customer Service Centre by telephone on 1300 79 49 29 or email.

The information session will outline the:-

• process leading to the development of the draft structure plan;
• key elements of the structure plan;
• implementation measures for the structure plan;
• next steps in the project; and
• opportunities for feedback and stakeholder input.

WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS
Any person may lodge a written submission about any aspect of the draft plan. In order for a written submission to be properly made in terms of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, it must:

1. include the name and address (residential or business) of the person making the submission;
2. state the grounds of the submission, the facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds;
3. be signed by the person making the submission; and
4. be addressed to: The Chief Executive Officer, Fraser Coast Regional Council, PO Box 1943, Hervey Bay Qld 4655.

The closing date for receipt of written submissions is 4.45pm on Friday, 27 January 2012.

ENQUIRIES
Hard copies of the Draft Structure Plan will be available for viewing at Council’s Customer Service Centres located at 77 Tavistock Street, Hervey Bay and also 431-433 Kent Street, Maryborough.  A Copy of the Draft Structure Plan will also be made available on CD upon request.
