Dogs/cats caught wandering in any street or public place will be impounded and taken to Council's pounds. 

If you have lost your pet, please contact Council as soon as possible on 1300 79 49 29, continually check this page and also visit the pounds.

Latest Impounded Animals

The list below details the cats and dogs that are currently impounded.  If your pet is listed below, please attend the relevant pound for a viewing. Once your pet has been confirmed applicable fees and charges need to be paid at a Customer Service Centre prior to the release of your pet. If you require any further assistance please contact Council's Customer Service Centre on 1300 79 49 29.

Pound locations and times are below.

Pound Locations

• Maryborough Pound is located at Bright Street, Maryborough.  Residents are able to view animals and organise collection on Monday to Friday from 2 - 4pm and Saturday from 10am to 12noon.
• Hervey Bay Pound is located at Cicada Lane, Urangan and is open from 3.30pm - 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

All dogs must be registered and impound/release fees paid prior to release.   For all enquiries phone 1300 79 49 29.

Release Fees

• Impoundment fees for Unregistered Dogs/Cats = $96.00
• Impoundment fees for Registered Dogs/Cats = nil (1st offence), $96.00 (2nd and subsequent offences)
• Sustenance = $18.00 per day (if impounding fee does not apply). First & last night free.
• Relinquishment = $30.00 (adult)
• Relinquishment = $20.00 (pup)
